Precision Strain Gauges for Bridge Monitoring
The stress changes experienced by bridges during service are often difficult to detect, but accumulated fatigue and deformation may cause major hidden dangers. For engineers, reliably capturing these subtle changes is a core challenge in structural health monitoring. Kingmach Measurement & Monitoring focuses on providing mid-range, cost-effective strain measurement solutions for this type of infrastructure monitoring. Our bridge strain gauges are designed to maintain stable output during long-term field deployments while reducing installation and maintenance complexity. From simply supported beams to cable-stayed bridges, the product range covers most monitoring needs. We not only sell instruments, but also provide customized technical support for projects to help the measurement team get started quickly.
Technical Detail
Kingmach bridge strain gauges use high-quality constantan or nickel-chromium alloy foil to ensure long-term zero-point stability and low creep. Each strain gauge is strictly calibrated and temperature compensated before leaving the factory, and can maintain measurement accuracy in a wide temperature range from -20°C to 80°C. For the outdoor environment of the bridge, a fully sealed waterproof structure is optional, with a protection level of IP68, suitable for high humidity and underwater applications. The installation method is flexible, it can be traditional glued or pre-installed with clamps or welded, suitable for concrete and steel structure surfaces. The measurement range usually covers ±1000 microstrain to ±3000 microstrain, meeting a variety of working conditions from light-load transportation to heavy-duty railways. The data output is compatible with mainstream data collection systems, making it easy to integrate into customers' existing monitoring networks. The product series covers uniaxial, biaxial and triaxial strain rosettes, suitable for different stress analysis needs. Kingmach also provides sensor customization services, including size, lead length, protection level, etc., to ensure it matches the design requirements of the specific bridge. With our global distribution network, we can quickly deliver products to all parts of the world and provide localized technical support and after-sales service.

They are suitable for almost all bridge types, including girder bridges, arch bridges, suspension bridges and cable-stayed bridges. For concrete bridges, waterproof embedded strain gauges are usually used; for steel bridges, we recommend welded or adhesive resistive strain gauges. We can also customize the sensitive grid size and installation method according to the specific bridge structure.
Span selection mainly depends on the expected maximum stress level of the bridge. General traffic bridges are usually within ±1000 microstrain, while railway or heavy-duty bridges may require ±2000 microstrain or higher. Our engineers can help you review the design load and recommend an appropriate gauge to avoid waste caused by under-range or over-design.
Yes, we offer IP68-rated sealed strain gauges that are capable of long-term operation underwater or in high-humidity environments. For underwater bridge pier or immersed tunnel monitoring, we can also provide special anti-corrosion protection and outer sheaths to ensure years of reliable operation.
Each strain gauge is shipped with a calibration certificate traceable to international standards. If required, we can also provide additional third-party calibration services according to the customer's project specifications.
Standard models usually ship within 2-4 weeks. Customized products depend on complexity and volume, and we will give an accurate delivery schedule when confirming the order. Through a global distribution network, our inventory and logistics can meet the needs of most urgent projects.
